After leaving Kenya to escape tribal conflict, Sewe confronts a difficult life in a humanitarian camp. She eventually takes her eight children by foot for 42 miles in search of a better life.
Sewe is a success story who resettled in the United States in 2001 and completed a master’s degree in sustainable development.
Her experience inspired her to volunteer with the Red Cross, which she has done for the past seven years.
